Why Choose CELTA in Brisbane?

Brisbane remains one of the major centers for getting English teaching jobs in Australia. Other attractive spots for ESL teachers for job opportunities include Sydney and Melbourne. Many prospective CELTA trainees wonder why a predominantly English speaking city such as this would be the right spot for ESL teachers. The reason is not farfetched. Many people choose to take English as a foreign language course in Brisbane due to its desirable location and environment.

TESOL jobs are available in summer and university-based English language centers as well as in international colleges which often offer residential pathways. There are openings with private ELISCOS institutions, TAFE and the migrant education sectors. You may also consider checking some vocational colleges for any open positions.

Wages vary depending on your experience, and many employers look for well-qualified prospects, yet another reason to complete your CELTA. Your income will also depend on where you work, but the average range is from 40 AUD to 90 AUD an hour. It is essential to bear in mind that you will earn almost the same working in a smaller town as in the city while you will spend less in the smaller towns.

Living in Brisbane can be expensive. To stretch your income further, you should consider sharing an apartment and living away from the more expensive center. However, Brisbane is rated cheaper than many other Australian cities such as Sydney and Melbourne.

Things to do in Brisbane, Australia while taking a CELTA

Brisbane, the capital of Queensland, also commonly called "Brissie," is a popular tourist destination and the third-largest city in Australia. With outdoor spaces, nature, sporting events, culture, and art, there is something suited to every taste, and CELTA trainees will always enjoy a day out exploring the area.

One fun activity is to take the elevator up and see the clock tower at Brisbane City Hall where you will also find the Brisbane Museum right at the top. Explore the Cultural Precinct with its array of parks and galleries like the Queensland Museum and Science Center, and the South Bank Parklands.

Brisbane is also very well suited for relaxation. A cruise on the Brisbane River by CityCat is a beautiful adventure that will give you a lifetime memory. Climb the Story Bridge that constitutes one of the only three climbs in the world. The experience, which takes about two hours, gives you stunning views of the city's skyline. After that, you can pop in and try some local beverages at one of the many craft breweries dotted around the city.

Brisbane even has its own 'street beach' - Australia's only human-made city center beach with a lagoon, sand, and tropical plants! With lifeguards too, this is a lovely spot to cool off after a busy day sightseeing.

You can also check out Kangaroo point cliffs or for the less adventurous activity, wander around and soak up the atmosphere at the Eat streets market and see what's on offer. From donuts to ramen and chicken wings to gnocchi - the city has snacks to delight everyone.
